After hearing the news of a friend giving birth soon, my first thought was, what do I get for the baby? I am sure most of us have been in this situation. Not having any kids in the family or friends, I was both excited and confused. Overjoyed for the baby’s arrival, I could barely wait to hold him/her in my arms and spoil them once they grow up. But what do I get them as their first gift? I wanted to get something that was unique and useful at the same time. The first gifts are always crucial and hold a special place in hearts, even if they are kids. So here I jot down a list of ten things you can get for a newborn baby:

As I enter the store for kids, I was surprised to see a whole new world. Kids these days get so many fancy and productive things compared to what we got when we were their age. As I move from rack to rack, my eyes get bigger with anticipation; what is coming next? So, below is a list of things that are cute and amusing:

1- A Feeder for the Baby

Babies, when born, need milk the most. One of the things at the top of the new or old mommies checklist is the feeder to provide the baby with milk. There are numerous kinds of feeders available in the shops these days, some simple and some fancy. A colorful feeder may attract the baby and make it easier for the mother to feed him/her.

Tip: Make sure you do not get a feeder that looks cute but is hard to hold. Babies have a lighter grip compared to adults and, it may fall on their face hurting them.

2- Skincare and Bath Essentials for the Babies

A newborn’s skin is soft and sensitive. Getting skincare products for the babies mostly confuses parents regarding what to buy and what to skip. Get them a basket of bath and skincare essentials with body lotion, a shampoo, and soap in it.

Tip: Make sure to get a brand that is reliable and has an excellent reputation. Ask the parents to try a patch beforehand in case of a reaction.

3- Diapers for the Babies

Diapers are one of the most essential things in a kid’s life. Newborn babies cannot go around without one. Seeing how expensive good diapers are, help the parents by getting them a pack of pampers. It is convenient for both the parents and the baby.

Tip: Ask the parents for the brand they are already using so that the baby does not feel uncomfortable with a new one.

4- Clothes for the Babies

Although babies grow up super-fast, and their clothes shrink at the same rate, but; getting some clothes can be remarkable. When they grow up and see their childhood pictures, their parents may tell them you bought those clothes for them, and it can be a wonderful memory.

A variety and vast options of baby clothes are available. These options include jackets, overalls, and shirts.

Tip: Try getting comfortable stuff for clothes because kids feel easy wearing them. A rough texture of the garment can irritate the baby.

5- Shoes for the NewBorns

Baby shoes are the most adorable things I came across. They are so small and attractive with different cartoons on them, and they sometimes come with lights too. The shoes are soft and come in all colors. While you are shopping for shoes, get some tiny, pretty, little socks with them, so the moms do not face trouble matching them later.

Tip: Ask for an estimated foot size of the baby before getting the shoes. All babies have different show sizes, and you do not want yours wasted if they do not fit them.

6- Pacifier for a Baby

A baby teether can keep the baby busy when they are not getting fed. It pleases babies when they have pacifiers in their mouths. They come in different types, the popular ones being plastic, silicon, and rubber. They are safe for the babies as they also keep their little eyes and hands busy.

Tip: Pacifiers with some; cartoons or animals on them attract babies the most. Try getting some of them instead of going for simpler ones.

7- Rattle Set for the Baby

A rattle set is one of my favorites. The babies stay busy as they play with the rattles. These kinds of toys attract babies because they make noise as they move them. The noise coming from the rattles makes the babies thrilled. They keep them involved and occupied.

Cot mobiles are another kind of toy that is; fixed at the top of the cot. As they move in circles and make sounds, they keep the kids engaged and distracted. These toys with sounds also help when the babies are crying because the sound can instantly shift their attention somewhere else.

Tip: Look out for any sharp objects or texture of the rattles before getting them. Babies have a habit of putting g everything in their mouth and can hurt themselves if the rattles have a harsh or bumpy texture.

8- Knitted Stuff for the NewBorn Baby

Pour some love and hard work by knitting something; for the baby yourself. Something made from scratch by you will be the closest gift for the parents and the baby. You can sew a sweater, a doll, or even a blanket.

Tip: Choose bright-colored threads and start with a smaller thing that boosts your confidence.

9- Stuffed Toys for the Babies

We all had stuff toys we could not sleep without when we were kids. Babies keep their stuffed toys close to them because they consider them their friends. They cannot speak, but they are always looking at them. The babies get a feeling of warmth from their stuffed toys.

Tip: Get a stuffed toy that is slightly bigger than the baby; it will make them feel protected and give them good company.

10- Building Blocks for the Babies

When babies start crawling, they will explore things on their own. They will touch almost everything and go near objects their parents stop them from going close by. At this time, parents need to keep them busy and give them something that can distract them. A set of building blocks can be educational and diverting for the babies. They can play with the pieces by connecting them and making something.

Tip: While choosing any gift, make sure you keep the baby’s age in your mind. Toys usually come with the age groups allowed to use them mentioned on the box. Read and get something suitable as per the age of the baby.

While shopping for a baby, remember that parents have already bought most of the essentials. So, buy something interactive and attractive for the baby.
